Sunday Homestead Update – “Ready” for Winter

We finished all but one project that we wanted to accomplish before winter. It feels so great to be so close to ready. We are hoping to get the last thing done before Thanksgiving.

All the livestock are secure and set up in a way that makes it easy to care for them. Sheep breeding season is well underway and we have several ewes that have been “marked” by the ram crayon harnesses. The goat does are at the breeder with the buck. The poultry are all settled into their winter housing. We are starting the plans for the vegetable garden and orchard for next spring. And we are all beginning to get into the holiday mood.

The to-do list at a farm is never ending…but I guess we are “ready” for winter. As ready as we ever are. 🙂
